Everything you need to know about WordPress folder management, the Lens media library plugin, and organizing files at scale.

Getting Started

Absolutely! Lens works seamlessly with your existing WordPress media library - there's no need to re-upload or move any of your files. It integrates directly with WordPress's native media system, so everything you already have stays exactly where it is.

Behind the scenes, Lens simply adds its own folder organization layer on top of the standard WordPress media queries, keeping things fast, stable, and fully compatible.

Installing Lens is quick and easy! You can add the free version directly from your WordPress dashboard - just go to Plugins → Add New, search for "Lens," install, and activate.

When you're ready for the Pro features, upload the lens-pro.zip file and activate it alongside the free plugin. The Pro add-on automatically detects the base plugin and unlocks its advanced tools once your license is active.

If you ever decide to remove Lens, it cleans up after itself. The uninstaller deletes all Lens-related tables, options, user data, and folders - leaving your WordPress site completely clean, just like before installation.

Lens works with WordPress 5.8 or newer and PHP 7.4 or higher. We always recommend keeping your WordPress and PHP versions up to date for the best performance and security.

Features & Functionality

Yes! Lens supports bulk actions like creating, moving, copying, trashing, restoring, and deleting multiple folders or files at once. Operations are tracked in real time and respect user permissions, keeping everything fast and secure.

Absolutely. With Lens Pro, you can import and export your folder structures using CSV, JSON, XML, or ZIP files. Imports detect duplicates and preserve hierarchy, while exports include all your folder metadata - making backups and migrations simple.

The Quick Switch feature in Lens Pro lets you find anything instantly. Just press Cmd/Ctrl + K to open the search panel - it uses smart fuzzy search, remembers recent results, and even lets you filter by color or lock status.

Yes - Lens Pro allows you to lock folders with secure, hashed passwords. You can cascade locks to subfolders, require passwords for moves or deletions, and track unlock attempts - all managed safely within your database.

Performance & Security

Not at all. Lens loads its assets only inside the admin media screens, not on the public site. Its data is stored in optimized, indexed tables, and background tasks automatically adjust based on your server's capacity - keeping everything smooth and responsive.

Yes. Lens doesn't send any personal data to third parties. Even analytics in the Pro version use only anonymized, hashed data, so you stay fully in control of privacy and compliance.

Lens is built for scale. It uses smart indexes, cached folder trees, adaptive batch sizes, and resumable operations, so even huge media libraries with hundreds of thousands of files stay quick and responsive.

Compatibility

Yes! Lens works seamlessly with WooCommerce, EDD, and any public post type. It's also fully multisite-aware, so every site in your network stays clean and isolated during uninstall.

Definitely. Lens works with WordPress's native upload filters, so cloud offload plugins (including those for S3 or DigitalOcean Spaces) continue to function normally. If you use locked folders, Lens safely serves protected copies through secure access routes.

Yes! Lens automatically extends its media management tools to all public post types. That means your custom post types get the same intuitive folder and media organization features right out of the box.

Collaboration & Sharing

Yes - collaboration is built in. Lens lets you control access at both the role and user level, deciding who can create, move, lock, or share media. Combine that with password-locked folders and share permissions for secure, team-friendly workflows.

Lens Pro makes sharing simple and safe. You can create shareable links with optional passwords, expiry dates, and download limits. Built-in analytics track views and downloads without ever exposing personal data.
